The Hunger for More pt 1
No, this isn’t a Lloyd Banks album review. This is the beginning of a loooong weekend of binge eating. First off, it's payday. For someone who gets paid bi-weekly, went to school, partied way too much and used up every last bit on student loans not knowing you had to pay it back, I go from paycheck, to three days, to 11 days with no money. Needless to say I make the most of each payday...or at least the first three days of them. Any way, my Fiancé is leaving for LA and I have friends in town. It was a given I'd be eating myself silly. She even left me burritos in the fridge (bless her little heart).
I strategically held off on Lunch for as long as my gut could hold off and ordered a 24oz black coffee for breakfast. Black is the only way to take your coffee you for those of you staring at your soybean fluff water. Before I go off on another tangent I made up my mind, Novecento Pizzeria it was for lunch. I asked another coworker to go and even conned her into driving. We pulled up like complete badasses, parked in the Smash Burger 10 minute parking, flicked our candy cigarettes and squinted like Clint Eastwood. We made are way inside to a slow motion montage with "Green Onions" playing in the background.
When we got in, I noticed it was a little small but not Staten Island Nail Salon small. There was on guy spinning dough almost acrobatically for each and every order. I have it on Snapchat if you need proof. I also noticed the impressive brick oven in the back corner with an actual log fire around the inner walls. I saw the special and it was on. 20+ toppings on your choice of white or margarita pizza with one free topping, 60 cents for each additional. I ordered the white, added pancetta and a brown egg. The only way it could have been more decadent would be to cover it in truffles and roll it in blue cheese. They weren’t an option, I asked. It came with a salad, sadly, I ate it. But the pizza itself was one for the books. It was 7 inches of pure excellence (I realize this sounds bad but idgaf). The pizza was obviously personal sized and perfectly foldab
le. The cheese had melted and bubbled as well as the crust. It had those little burnt crust bubbles that break like a egg shell over over it, popped with perfection. Thats a good thing. The pancetta crispy and egg satiny smooth. Needles to say I left happily and oddly full. But wait...there’s more.
