Geisha House

I've been putting off going to this place for about as long as I've been putting off posts lately. Long story short I just didn't want to do it. I don't even have a real reason I just didn't want to go. Sometimes I let thoughts get in my head and just go with it. I assumed, since it opened it was glorified, over-priced Asian cuisine. I never looked or Yelped it or cared to...Until last night.

Being Catholic, you have to pretend to participate in Lent once a year and for some god forsaken reason they decided no fish on Fridays. Rational right? It's one of those things you just have to accept and go on with your life never questioning it. Growing up I hated a lot of foods, but of all the foods I hated the most was fish. It took me A long time to come to the realization that its fuggin delicious. Raw, fried, baked sautéed, you name it, sauce it, bread it its delicious. Off all the ways to eat it, raw and on a hand shaped island of rice is the best. Nigiri style sushi my friends. It’s the only way to eat it. Sure its great fried or rolled in with cream cheese and avocado but it just takes away from sushi's greatness. So before I go off on another tangent, we decided to go (Although I was really pulling for Grimaldi's). Se La Vie.

So, Geisha House, for those who don't know, is Japanese food. Which, on a side note, is slowly becoming my favorite cuisine to gorge on. They do it simple, precise and to perfection. Geisha House no exceptions. It was happy hour too so you know I was in my glory. Delicious bites half price paired with Asian brews? Game on Garth, don't temp me with a good time. Anyways, I wanted sushi and nothing else was going to suffice. I ordered Salmon, Red Snapper, Hamachi, Yellow Tail and Crab Sticks all of course, done nigiri style.

Side note, everything I know about sushi I learned from Netflix. If you ever see the documentary Jiro Sushi, just watch it and be amazed. Yeah, I know, its sad but I grew up in Western New York right off the Erie Canal, not exactly the Sushi Capitol of the world. I'd be will to bet the percentage of people that don't even know what sushi is probably exceeds the unemployment rate. Time for and uprising in Western New York? Anyway, he is the god of the sushi world. He even has a Tuna guy. I want a Tuna guy. I don't have a Tuna guy. I probably will never have a Tuna guy. Butttttt I also don't have Michelin Stars so....

Back to the food. The sushi was on point. Hamachi was hands down the best fish on the plate. I get that it's essentially just yellow tail but its sooooo much better and buttery. Salmon was right up there too. The Red Snapper was kind of surprising. I don't know if I just never looked or if this is something newer. Remember, I'm not a foodie. Laugh if you must. Either way, I’m a fan.

Pricewise, everything was reasonable. That’s usually a hot topic for me. I'm far from cheap but if I can't justify the pricing, I'm not going to leave happy. I left happy. And for those of you not into Sushi, that's fine too, the had several Hibachi Grill's where you can be the ultimate American basic. I won't get into my take on hibachi to spare you but here's a few picture of the meal.
